Some WhatsApp users in Argentina are now testing the capacity to exchange media files up to 2GB in size. Now, a new feature that is purportedly in development will allow users to estimate how long it would take for a huge file to be entirely transferred between two devices.

According to a recent claim from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new feature that would let users know when a document has finished downloading on their devices or has been uploaded to WhatsApp's servers. WhatsApp will now display the remaining time for the file to be transferred for people who are taking part in the test.

The latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, Android, and desktop now includes the option to see the expected time of arrival when sending files, which is especially handy for bigger files that might take more than a few seconds to transfer.

The functionality is presently available in WhatsApp beta versions for Android, for iOS, and 2.2209.3 for Windows. According to reports, the function is now only being given out to a select group of users, and those who have yet to see it in action will have to wait a little longer.

The huge file has some text on the bottom that people may view as it is being uploaded, as shown in the image above. This text shows the proportion of the file that has been uploaded as well as the amount of time it will take to finish the upload.

Once the capacity to send bigger files up to 2GB in size is made available to more individuals, this additional capability is sure to come in handy. However, both functionalities may take some time to arrive in the stable version of the programme.

It would be beneficial to have an upload ETA (Estimated time of arrival) for files larger than 2GB.
