WhatsApp has announced that the number of times a forwarded message may be shared in conversation will be limited. This is being done by the platform to combat the spread of disinformation, which is mostly distributed through forwarded communications.

The restriction was discovered last month by WABetaInfo in WhatsApp Beta version 2.22.7.2 for Android. The Meta-owned social networking site now appears to be testing it on beta versions of the iOS app.

If a user want to transmit the message to more than one group, they must repeat the procedure of choosing the text and forwarding it to the chat each time they desire to forward it, as it can no longer be forwarded to multiple groups.

WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, previously limited users' ability to forward messages to five conversations at a time in 2019. The ban was put in place to combat the spread of false news and spam on the messaging app. Several bad actors took use of the platform to propagate rumours, misinformation, and propaganda, causing discontent and fear among the public.

WhatsApp is also planning on making the Communities tab replace the camera tab. The feature is presently in development and will be presented as a location where group admins will have more control over the platform's groups.
