On July 14, 2023, Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One will be released in cinemas. You may have spotted a rip of the trailer for Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning if you were on Twitter over the weekend.
The trailer for Tom Cruise's next major action film, intended to be published alongside this week's hot release of Top Gun: Maverick, has been officially released by Paramount, and it looks even more ludicrous and bombastic than the previous two episodes.
Dead Reckoning, directed and written by Christopher McQuarrie once again, resurrects Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt for a fresh mission that puts the planet in grave danger.
This trailer doesn't have much in the way of storyline, instead relying on music and images to sell the film's massive scale, as well as a quick glimpse of some of the film's larger set pieces, including an underwater combat aboard a submarine.
The biggest stunt of the lot, though, is one we've known about for a while: Cruise will ride a motorbike off a mountain and (hopefully) parachute or wingsuit to safety. And it appears to be something worth seeing in a theatre, if only for the sheer spectacle.
Reckoning will include several familiar figures from earlier films, including Vanessa Kirby's White Widow from Fallout and Henry Czerny's Eugene Kittridge from the first film, as well as Hunt's squad of Benji (Simon Pegg), Luther (Ving Rhames), and Ilsa (Rebecca Ferguson).
Pom Klementieff and Haley Atwell, as well as famous character actor Shea Whigham and Esai Morales as the film's main antagonist, are all new additions to the cast. All of those characters are scheduled to return in 2024 for the sequel to Dead Reckoning.
